Summary
PinyinIQ does not contain advertising, tracking, analytics or an external AI service. PinyinIQ does not sell personal information. Core recognition and reading functions work without creating an account.
Information stored on your device
Source documents, recognised text, pinyin annotations, saved readings, cards, bookmarks, pronunciation glossary entries, reading progress, dictionary history and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad.
This local information is not transmitted to PinyinIQ or its developer. It may be included in an Apple-managed encrypted device backup according to your iCloud or computer backup settings. Apple-managed backup is not developer collection.
Camera and selected photos
Live Lens and document scanning use the camera only after you open those features and grant permission. Recognition is performed on the device.
Photo import uses Apple’s private picker. PinyinIQ receives only the item you choose and does not request access to your full photo library.
Speech, documents and exports
Pronunciation uses Apple’s system speech service. PinyinIQ does not record audio. Files leave PinyinIQ only when you choose an export or share action and select a destination.
Website data
This website does not use advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, user accounts or contact forms. Standard hosting security logs may be processed by the hosting provider to operate and protect the service.
Third-party components
PinyinIQ includes CC-CEDICT under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence and ZIPFoundation under the MIT License. These components do not add advertising, analytics or remote data collection.
Retention and deletion
You control how long locally stored content remains in PinyinIQ.
- Delete readings, cards and bookmarks individually from Library.
- Delete pronunciation terms from Settings, Pronunciation glossary.
- Delete the app to remove its remaining local data.
Copies that you exported remain under your control at their selected destination.
Children
PinyinIQ is a general education product and is not directed specifically to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users.
Changes to this policy
Any future account, cloud, analytics or AI-provider feature will require an updated privacy assessment and policy before release.
